You'll wonder
what to do next!
There are vast and varied activities awaiting visitors
to this region of Washington State! The drive alone
offers outstanding views of natural beauty from the
magnificent mountain range to following the river as it
winds and cuts its way through the canyon. Fall brings
an outstanding array of fiery red, blazing orange and
golden yellow leaves at each turn in the road.
The now charming village of Leavenworth achieved a
“re-birth” in 1960 as it became the “Bavarian Village”
in an attempt to bring vitalization, new businesses and
residents to the area. Visitors continue to exclaim how
very European the ambiance is and natural setting
resembles the European Alps of Austria, Italy and
Germany. Town restaurants offer German, Italian,
Continental, Asian, Mexican, Latin and South American,
and American specialties. Abundant choice of ice cream
is available on a warm day.
For one’s sweet tooth, there are “chocolateiers,” with
fine morsels to melt in your mouth. Sight-seeing can
include a visit to unique shops with local crafts and
European imports, stroll along the river, enjoy music
and displays of “Art in the Park,” visit Icicle Creek
Music Center for a concert or attend a production of
Leavenworth Summer Theater. Just 4 miles away is
pristine Lake Wenatchee where you can swim,
wind surf ,
canoe and enjoy sailing and outboard boating. This area
also offers peaceful, beautiful places to picnic.
Many festivals and special events are scheduled on the
calendar throughout the year and we hope you will find
time to come explore and enjoy Leavenworth. For further
information please contact the Leavenworth Chamber of
Commerce for accommodations, seasonal events,
restaurants, and other inquiries.
